AG. PALS in the Elementary
The PALS programs has been very active this year, visiting Marion, New Franklin, & Andrew Buchanan each once a month. This group of FFA officers & FFA members are preparing & presenting agriculture based lessons to 5th grade classrooms to increase knowledge & excitement about ag. We have hopes this year to expand to more elementary schools. We are setting our sights on Ben Chambers 1st as we could reach a large number of classrooms as well as students who may have very little background knowledge about ag.
FFA - CASHS
CASHS FFA was recognized at PSU over the summer as being the 2nd largest Chapter in the state, only behind WB Saul in Philadelphia. We had a 2nd place agriciscience team that looked at the effects of “green” (good for the environment) products on plant life to evaluate how safe they really are for the environment compared to a detergent like Tide and a cleaning solution like bleach.
The FFA officers were part of an over-night summer training that Matt Dodson & Janine Stottlemyer ran to improve communication, & to start the school year off with a plan. They spent 2 days working on leadership skills, team building, & developing a program of activities for the Chapter. We also did a community service project at a clothing room in a local church.

FFA National's Report from Mr. Byers
This is a picture of the Chambersburg FFA Veterinary Science team. I am with members Colyn Heim, Daylen Wolff, Karie Leister, and Shelby Armstrong. My wife Kristin and I had the privilege of taking them to the National FFA Convention to compete in this Career Development Event. We also got to meet many people from the fifty states and 2 territories represented by the FFA. About 50,000 FFA members attended this annual national event in Indianapolis, October 23rd-26th.
The team place 2nd in the state of Pennsylvania at the June FFA Convention. The team then competed in the event at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis in October. Team members were required to identify breeds of domestic animals, veterinary tools and equipment, animal diseases, animal parasites, demonstrate veterinary skills, figure medication dosages, and cooperate together on a group presentation.
